The problem chosen is significant to nursing because it provides new ideas on how to care for the incurable cancer patient. After discussing the background of the study, the paper stated clearly the purpose and research problem. The problem is very much significant to nursing practice because it offers interventions on how to improve the quality of life of the cancer patient (Polit & Beck, 1997; Burns & Grove, 2001).
